§ 34-79. Permit.

  • (a)

    Any person, driver, operator or agent who wishes to park a prohibited vehicle off-street in a residential area may apply at the city with the City Manager's office for a permit to exempt a prohibited vehicle from the operation of this division. Upon a valid showing of need, the City Manager may issue a special parking permit for any such vehicle. A vehicle displaying such special permit shall be exempt from the penalties set forth in this division.

    (b)

    Any permit issued under this section shall be valid for one year from the date of its issue.

    (c)

    When applying for a special permit, the person, owner, agent, operator or driver shall bring the vehicle to the City Hall for visual inspection by the City Manager or his designee. Permits may be applied for during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The person, owner, agent, operator or driver shall give a statement specifying the need to have the vehicle exempted from the provisions in this division.

    (d)

    The City Manager or his designated agent is hereby authorized to issue special permits under this section upon a valid showing of need.
